HISTORY

In 1979, Stephen D. Taylor acquired Walt Pierce Buick in Downtown Toledo and so began Taylor Automotive. With the success of the Buick dealership, Mr. Taylor decided to expand his business by purchasing the Gumpp Cadillac dealership and opened up Taylor Cadillac in 1988. Twenty-five years later, the Taylor Automotive Group has expanded to six dealerships throughout the Toledo, Findlay, and Lima areas, making it the largest automotive group in Northwest Ohio. Mr. Taylor and his only son, Stephen Taylor Jr., continue to grow their business and live by their mantra, Locally Owned, Locally Committed.

The Taylor Automotive Group is involved with many local charities and organizations in Northwest Ohio and strives each day to make their community a better place. They are honored to be able to give back to the community by sponsoring events that enrich the quality of life in Northwest Ohio. Some of the charities and organizations that the Taylor Family contribute to and sponsor are: the Downtown Holiday Parade, Red, White Kaboom 4th of July Fireworks, LPGA Marathon Classic, the Toledo Museum of Art, Books for Buddies, Imagination Station, Exclaim!, Taste of the Nation, the Toledo Zoo, Jr. League of Toledo, Children's Miracle Network, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, Music Under the Stars and the Toledo Symphony.

In 2009, the Taylor Automotive Group approached Perrysburg High School about starting a program that rewards high school seniors who strive for excellence in their senior year. The program, called Driven to Succeed has awarded four exceptional seniors with a brand new Hyundai Elantra. After four successful years with Perrysburg High School, Taylor Automotive decided to expand the program to all high schools in Lucas, Allen and Hancock Counties. They believe that the entire community benefits by honoring and promoting good student behavior, academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, and exemplary attendance. The Taylor Family hopes the encouragement of positive actions will enable students to commit and strive towards achievable goals in their senior year, future careers, and personal lives.
